In the northern extremity of the parish of Addergoole, bounded on the north by the Civil Parish of Dunmore, on the south by Cormeelick South, on the east by the Civil Parish of Dunmore and Cormeelick South and on the west by the townland of Coolecknaleagh.
The Down Survey Map 1641 (pre Cromwell) gave the town land name as ‘Corvelick’ and states that the owner was Moyler [sic] Bermingham (Catholic). The 1670 Down Survey Map shows the land was owned by Edmund Hopkins (Catholic).
Census 1841 – 1851
The townland of Cormeelick North in 1851 held an area of 105 acres, 1 rood and 21 perches. The population in 1841 was 119 inhabitants, 61 male and 58 female. There were 24 houses, all of which were occupied. In 1851 the townland population had fallen slightly, down to 91 people, 48 male and 43 female. There were now only 16 houses, all of which were inhabited.
The Poor Law Valuation of the townland of Cormeelick North was £28 15 shillings and 0d (pence).
Griffith’s Valuation 1855
According to Griffith’s Valuation 1855, Cormeelick North was owned by 2 gentlemen, William Garvey and John Diskin. William Garvey held the majority of the land, 103 acres 0 roods and 15 perches, with John Diskin owning only 2 acres 1 rood and 6 perches. John Diskin leased his share of the land to Patrick Geraghty for a total annual valuation rate of £0 14s 0d for house and land. William Garvey held 41 acres 0 roods and 13 perches in fee, which held a herds house, land, bog (11 acres 0 roods 28 perches) and water (6 acres 0 roods 16 perches) for a total annual valuation rate of £9 5s 0d.
William Garvey leased the remainder of his land to the following tenants: John Heaney, John Diskin, Patrick Quinn, Marl Cummins, Michael Murray, Thomas Murray, Thomas Mannion, James Mannion, Bryan O’Neill, and Thomas Comer. John Heaney paid a total annual valuation rate of £5 5s 0d for house, office and land, John Diskin paid a total annual valuation rate of £3 18s 0d for house and land, Patrick Quinn paid a total valuation rate of £4 10s 0d house, office and land, Mark Cummins paid a total valuation rate of £5 0s 0d for house, offices and land, Michael Murray paid a total valuation rate of £4 5s 0d for house, offices and land, Thomas Murray paid a total valuation rate of £4 15s 0d for house office and land, Thomas Mannion paid a total valuation rate of £0 8s 0d for land, James Mannion paid a total valuation rate of £1 5s 0d for land, Bryan O’Neill paid a total valuation rate of £0 14s 0d for land, Thomas Comer paid a total valuation rate of £2 15s 0d for house, office and land.
The Total Annual Valuation of Rateable Property in Cormeelick North in 1855 was £42 14 shillings.
Census 1901
There are 6 households in the townland of Cormeelick North in 1901. All the houses were built and all were listed as private dwellings. All of the residents in the townland were Roman Catholic and all were born in Co Galway. There were 20 people, 6 male and 14 female. The heads of the households were: Peter Curran, Sarah Murray, Patrick Garvey, Sarah Douighan [sic], Bridget Mannion and Richard Culinan [sic]. The census forms were returned on 04th April 1901.

Sarah lived in a 3rd class house with 1 front window and 2 rooms. Patrick Garvey was listed as the owner of the land on which the house was situated.

All members of the Garvey family could read and write except Patrick Garvey’s sister, Monica. Patrick, his wife Bridget and his sister Monica were the only members listed as having spoken Irish and English. All members were listed as single except Patrick and Bridget who were listed as married. All members of the family were Roman Catholic and all were born in Co Galway. Patrick and his family lived in a 2nd class house with 3 front windows and 5 rooms. Patrick Garvey was listed as the owner of the land on which the family house was situated along with 1 stable, 1 cow house, 1 piggery, 1 barn, 1 potato house and 1 shed.
Sarah Douighan [sic] was 70 years old in 1901; she lived alone and was listed as widowed. Sarah was a Roman Catholic and was born in Co Galway. Sarah was unable to read but she spoke Irish and English. Sarah lived in a 3rd class house with 1 front window and 2 rooms. Patrick Garvey was listed as the owner of the land on which the house was situated along with 1 fowl house.
Bridget Mannion was 75 years old; she lived alone and was listed as widowed. Bridget was a Roman Catholic and was born in Co Galway. Bridget was not able to read but she was able to speak Irish and English. Bridget lived in a 4th class house with 1 front window and 1 room. Patrick Garvey was listed as the owner of the land on which the house was situated.
Richard Culinan [sic] was 60 years old, he lived with his sister Julia who was 40 years old. Richard listed his occupation as a farmer. Neither Richard nor Julia could read, but both spoke Irish and English. Richard was listed as being widowed while his sister was listed as single. Richard and his sister lived in a 4th class house with 1 front window and 1 room. Richard Culinan was listed as the owner of the land on which his house was situated along with 1 piggery and 1 fowl house.

There were 4 households in the townland of Cormeelick North in 1911. There were 8 people, 5 female and 3 male. All residents were born in Co Galway and all residents were Roman Catholic. All the buildings were built, with permanent walls (brick, stone or concrete). Three of the roofs were made of perishable material i.e. thatch or wood, the fourth roof was made from iron, slate or tile and all the households were classified as private dwellings. The heads of the households were: Sarah Curran, Bridget Garvey, Mary Connolly and Richard Cullinan. The census forms were returned on 15th April 1911.
