Signs of the Weather

Long ago the old people were able to tell by the sky by the birds of the air and by the animals when it is going to be wet and when it is to be fine.

When the sky looks dark and cloudy and when the west wind blows and when the sun goes down pale in the evenings When the swallows fly low Crows are seen gathered in a line on the top of a wall. When the cat looks sleepy and sits at the fire and very often scraping sticks. Frogs gather near ponds or lakes and their colour changes to black. Cattle and sheep are seen lying near the wall. Soot is falling and when there is blue blazes in the seagulls fly inland. When insects are crawing on the ground. Is the signs of rain.

When stars appear brightly Larks fly high. When the sky looks red in the evenings and gray in the mornings. When smoke goes up the chimneys in a straight line is the signs of fine weather

The south wind blows and when the pigs look up to the sky. When mountains appear near. When there is a circle is around and the larger the circle the severer the storm. Is the signs of a storm
