Milltown ICAN Project

Digitisation of our local heritage

Milltown Heritage Group

ICAN Project

Milltown Heritage Group works with the National Museum of Ireland and County Galway Heritage Office to develop an archive on our community heritage website. It gives everyone an opportunity to browse through our local heritage.

Most of all, it gives everyone a chance to share their story, photographs and items of interest in our local area. You can do so by hitting the ‘contribute’ button on the top of the homepage. Examples of what you can send in are: articles, photographs, video links and scanned documents.

  • To B. Forde,
Are you by any chance descended from Timothy Ford (1797-1895) and his wife Bridget (maiden name Donelan, died probably before 1864), who lived in Carrowreagh, Milltown? Timothy emigrated to Watertown, Jefferson County, New York after his wife died. They had 11 children, all born in Milltown, and all their children emigrated to Watertown. The children were Honora (1831-1894), Mary (1833-), Ellen (1836-1910), Celia (1837-), Margaret (1840-1919), Thomas (1842-1900),John (1845-1886), Samuel (1845-), William (1846-1925), Katherine (1851-1889), and Bridget (1852-1932).
If so then please drop me an email to pdonelan AT gol.com (replacing ” AT ” with “@”). Timothy’s wife Bridget Donelan was a sister of my great great grandfather Edward Donelan (Carrowreagh and Bawnmore, Milltown). We can share information. Patrick Donelan

  • To all in Milltown Heritage Group
I really like your video and from what I can gather Milltown is a very busy and successful group. The scenes from around Milltown are beautiful. Keep up the good work.
