Milltown wins Best Contribution to Heritage

The Cathaoirleach Awards 2023

We are pleased to announce that we have been selected as this year’s winner of Galway County Council’s Cathaoirleach Award in the category ‘Best Contribution to Heritage’ for our Special Letter Collection project.

These letters date back to important times in Ireland’s history – the famine, the land war and the war of independence are all written about by people who lived in these times.

The Cathaoirleach Community Heritage Award 2023 was presented to Milltown Heritage at an award’s ceremony held in the Meadowcourt Hotel, Loughrea on the 27th May. This event was organised by Galway County Council and Galway County Public Participation Network hosted by the Cathaoirleach Cllr. Michael Maher and MC for the evening Bernadette Prendergast of Galway Bay FM. We were presented with a beautifully handcrafted award and framed certificate.
