This limeseat was once a window sill in the Tuam Workhouse (The Poor House). Erected in the early 1840s. It was demolished in the late 1950s. It was a refuge for starving peasants during An Gorta Mor (1847 – 50) and later a home for unmarried mothers. On the 11th April 1923 six Irish Republican soliders were executed there during the Civil War.
