Plaque inscription: This early 19th century millstone cut from a Shanballymore sandstone boulder was one of the original pair in O’Grady’s Mill, Milltown. When its use as a millstone was no more, it was purchased by John Clarke, a local blacksmith – An Gabha- in 1920 and used in his forge at Cormeelick as a base for shoeing cart-wheels until his death in 1942 when the forge closed. For the past 70 years it lay in an overgrown corner of a field at Dillonbrook, a forgotten and important relic of the past. It was presented to our Heritage Park by the Brogan family in 2012.
