  • I think I am related to this Welsh family in some way.
My great great grandfather was Edward Donelan (born about 1805, died 1889), who lived in Carrowreagh at the time of Griffiths valuation (1855), but was living in and died in Bawnmore in the 1880s. His parents (my 3-times great grandparents) were William and Ellen Donelan, and he had 8 siblings, including Margaret, who died before 1885, married Peter Loftus, and probably lived in Carrowreagh. Peter and Margaret Loftus had the following 7 children (quoting from the probate papers of Edward and Margaret’s brother Thomas Donelan, who died in 1886 in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York).
“- Mathew LOFTUS who resides in Brig Lincolnshire, England,
    – Ellen WELCH, James LOFTUS who reside in Milltown, Co Galway
    – Peter LOFTUS, Andrew LOFTUS, Bridget HUNT reside Watertown, NY
    – Margaret COON aka COHN aka COAN ? resides in Pittston, Lucerne Co, PA”
The addresses are where they were living in 1885, when Thomas made his will.
Matthew Loftus (born about 1828) married Catherine Welsh
Ellen Loftus (about 1831-1905) married John Welsh (died 1891).
This letter (1843 number 2) mentions James, Peter, and Andrew Loftus.
