GA016-001—- Class: Ringfort – rath

Description: On a hillock in undulating grassland overlooking poorly drained terrain to NE. Poorly preserved sub-circular rath (NE-SW 50m, NW-SE 40m) defined by a scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank. The fosse and outer bank survive at SE and from SSW to NW; they have been quarried out at S. Possible entrance at W. A field boundary cuts the monument at NW and SE. A ringfort (GA016-002—-) lies c. 150m to SW.[1]

 

GA016-002—- Class: Ringfort – rath

Description: Some 150m SW of a ringfort (GA016-001—-). Poorly preserved subcircular rath (N-S 34m, E-W 30m) defined by a bank at NE and SW, and elsewhere by a scarp which has been squared-off from SW to N. An external fosse is present throughout. A ringfort (GA016-057—-) lies c. 500m to SSE.[2]

 

GA016-003—- Class: Ringfort – rath

Description: On the top of a hillock in rolling grassland. Subcircular rath (E-W 26.5m, N-S 25.2m), in fair condition, defined by a bank and external fosse; the latter survives from N through E to SSW. Numerous gaps in the bank appear modern. A field boundary cuts the monument at NNE and SSW.[3]

 

GA016-004—- Class: Ringfort – rath

Description: On a rise in undulating grassland. Poorly preserved oval rath (NW-SE 41m, NE-SW 31m) defined by a bank and external fosse. The bank is present from SSE through W to N; elsewhere a field bank overlies the enclosing element.[4]

 

GA016-087—- Class: Boundary mound
