Milltown Heritage Group were welcomed by Moycullen Historical Society, Minister Sean Kyne TD, Government Chief Whip and Lorna Elms (Project Development Officer of the ICAN project) to one of our ICAN meetings held in The Forge in Moycullen. This was a day where we got to meet our friends from Co Clare who have joined the ICAN network.

Professor Celeste Ray, Sewanee University, Tennessee, USA gave a presentation entitled “The Holy Wells of Ireland”. Celeste spoke about her fascinating research into the holy wells of Ireland, why holy wells are important heritage sites and how to locate, research and document your local holy wells.

The second half of the day we got a tour of Celtic Crystal Moycullen which included a demonstration of glass-cutting by hand.

This was another fantastic day where all the community groups along with our heritage officer Marie Mannion  and representatives from the National Museum of Ireland got to catch up, share ideas and discuss future projects.
