The programme aimed to equip us with the skills needed to deepen our understanding of our local heritage features and to increase awareness of our rich heritage. While these heritage places are already familiar to us, we sometimes become so accustomed to them that their wider significance can be overlooked. The course encouraged us to step back, refresh our perspective, and rediscover the value and meaning of what is already around us.
The course was funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development through Galway Rural Developments LEADER programme (contact: Development Officer Frank Keane) and supported by Galway County Council (contact: Heritage Officer Marie Mannion). The course is delivered by Zena Hoctor and Dr Christy Cunniffe.
