Here is a short video looking back over the 2018
As Galway celebrated European Region of Gastronomy 2018, we got involved in our heritage food project. We met regularly with our heritage officer in Galway Co Council and other heritage groups around the county. We attended the official launch in Claregalway castle. We were invited along to the Sheep 2018: Farm to Fork event held in Athenry where we showcased our rich traditional heritage. We attended a celebration of our year’s work in Claregalway Castle on the 12th December 2018.
During the year, we were also invited to take part in the ‘Our Irish Women’ project. The chosen woman for our project was Dr Nora McGarry. This formed part of an exhibition which took place in The National Museum of Country Life, Turlough, Castlebar, Co Mayo.
A fantastic and successful year!
- We were shortlisted for the Best Contribution to Heritage award.
- Galway Co Co were commended for their food heritage project which involved all the work that our national local schools and heritage groups from all around the county took part in.
In September 2018, we were crowned National Winners for the special heritage award in the Tidy Town’s competition 2018. |
