Milltown has long been associated with a strong sporting tradition, most notably in GAA. However, did you know that Milltown once had a boxing club? In an edition of the Tuam Herald from Feb 1936, a Tuam author praises Milltown for their new boxing club whilst lamenting the lack of a club in his own town. A later article from May 1936 reports about that the Milltown club staged a boxing tournament but did not claim any victories!
