The cheese or butter knife, which is silver or silver plate, has a pattern on the handle. The reverse of the handle is stamped as follows: Wm. Rogers IS and with a star and eagle symbols. These marks show that the knife was made by William Rogers, an American company, sometime after 1898 when the company was bought by International Silver Co.
