🐭 Fun Facts About the Wood Mouse!

  • Tiny but mighty! Wood mice are super small – but full of energy!
  • Colour combo! They wear brown and white fur, like they’re always dressed for autumn.
  • Big ears, big hearing! Their round ears help them hear everything even tiny sounds in the dark.
  • Night ninjas! Wood mice are nocturnal, which means they come out at night while we are sleeping!
  • Home sweet burrow! They dig little homes called burrows in forests, fields, and woods.
  • Mouse chatter! They “talk” to each other using touch like tiny furry messages!
  • Cheeky eaters! They eat seeds, nuts, worms, fruit, and caterpillars. They are omnivores!
  • A boy mouse is a buck, a girl mouse is a doe, and a baby mouse is adorably called a pinky!
  • Mischief makers! A group of mice is called a mischief.
