Ancestor's Letter of Reference

Richard Joyce

Eileen Murphy

All we know of my Great Grandfather, Richard Joyce is that he came from Tuam and worked as an assistant horse groom on the Dalgin Milbrook Estate. Attached is a copy of his letter of reference dated May 1872. While I realize this is not a genealogy site, as family historian, I am still searching for his family in Ireland.

Bearer  Richard Joice I have know from his childhood.  He has been also for a long time in my employment as assistant groom and I have no hesitation in stating that a better competent young man could not be had in every respect.

  • Could he be a child of Thomas Joyce
    1813-1852 and Sarah Kelly ?-1861

I have them listed as having a child Lawrence Joyce but I see no other children on my tree. I’ll see what I can find out for you!
