  • A cure for the whooping cough is to skin a hedgehog and boil him and drink his soup.
  • A cure for a sore throat is hot salt put into a stocking and tied around the throat.
  • A cure for a sore back is a flannel bandage soaked in boiling water squeezed out and afterward tied around the back.
  • A cure for sore eyes is to wash them in cold tea brewed very strongly.
  • A cure for heart burn is, a tea-spoon full of soda and a cup of water.
  • A cure for a burn is, the contents of gall of a pig, another cure is bread-soda applied quickly after being burned.
  • When would have a tooth-ache they would rub salt and pepper in the gum.

  • A cure for a sty in your eye get several thorns off a gooseberry bush and stick them on the sty, throw them over your head and gather them again and burn them. The next day the sty would be cured.
