Puffin

Puffins hold a charming place in Ireland’s natural and cultural landscape. Often nicknamed “sea parrots” for their colourful beaks and comical waddles, puffins have long delighted locals and visitors alike along Ireland’s rugged coastal cliffs, particularly at well-known sites like the Cliffs of Moher and Skellig Michael.  Puffins have inspired wonder and affection in coastal communities for generations, symbolising the richness of Ireland’s marine life. In more recent times, they have become icons of wildlife conservation and are celebrated in environmental education, art, and tourism. Their presence signals healthy seas, and their annual return to nest each spring is a quiet reminder of nature’s cycles and Ireland’s deep connection to the Atlantic.
