Ingredients
- 12 oz plain flour
- 12 oz course wholemeal Flour
- 1½ tblsp All bran
- 1½ tblesp Wheatgerm
- 1 tblsp sugar
- 1½ Teasp Bread soda
- 1 Tblsp Pin Head Oatmeal
- 6 oz Butter (5oz is also ok)
- 1 pint Buttermilk
Method
Heat oven to 180c – 190c. Put flat baking tray in oven.
Sieve white flour and bread soda. Put in bowl with all other dry ingredients. Rub in the butter to resemble breadcrumbs. Add the buttermilk and mix together. Don’t put in the whole pint at once, some butter milk is thinner than others. Using the whole pint is optional. Turn the dough onto floured worktop and roll out to ¾ inch thick. Cut into shapes with cutter. Glaze with beaten egg.
